The Deputy Mayor of Gdynia, Michał Guć together with the Social Welfare Centre in Gdynia and the UBC Inclusive and Healthy Cities Commission is pleased to invite you to the international conference entitled – demographic challenges and prospects for sustainable development.

The City of Gdynia will host the event on 9-10 October 2017. The main theme of the conference is: how to build a city open to citizens of all ages – a city that recognizes the needs, potential and prospects of people creating a local community at every stage of their life.

The participants of the conference will be specialists in the field of developing and implementing local social policies with an emphasis on the phenomenon of an ageing society. The guests and speakers will discuss issues such as:

  • How do different generations affect each other?

  • How to organise a city, its services and space so that a joint, intergenerational engagement in work, developing one’s passions and supporting each other is possible?

  • How to take care of healthy and safe conditions of a life together and common development?

The conference will be an occasion to familiarise oneself with the existing projects implemented within the Gdynia Intergenerational Dialogue framework. The conference will be combined with the UBC Inclusive and Healthy Cities Commission meeting.

Within the conference’s framework there are two days of activities planned, including lectures, workshops and discussion panels that will take place between the 9th and 10th October 2017 in the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park Gdynia. During the first day, in the afternoon, there will also be a get-together in the Pokład club.

The conference will be international with some of the lectures and discussion panels conducted either in Polish or in English. The organisers, however, provide simultaneous translation to all participants. At the registration desk all interested participants will receive the necessary headset. Translation will be provided during all plenary sessions (excluding workshops).

Should you be interested in participating in this conference, please fill out the online registration form. It consists of 8 questions and it takes less than 5 minutes to fill it out. We hope that the questions and their level of detail will help us to tailor the conference to your needs and expectations.

As the number of seats is limited to 250, registration forms will be processed in the order they are received. We would, however, like to ask you to register no more than 3 employees of one institution/organisation. We hope that this will allow the biggest number of representatives of various institutions/organisations to take part in the conference.

Registration is open until October 3, 2017, in case of exceeding the limit of available places, the organisers reserve the right to close the registration procedure early. The registration form will then no longer be available.

We would also like to inform you that live streaming of the plenary sessions will be available on YouTube. A link to the online transmission will be published HERE on the day of the conference.

Participation in the conference is free of charge.
